Design & Build conversion of the existing Catering Building to form a new Student Centre. Following the demolition of the existing internal walls and strip out of the toilets and kitchen areas, the ground floor was remodelled to include a new Student Bookshop, Bookable spaces, offices, toilet facilities and a multi-use student foyer area.
On the first floor a new Catering Kitchen was constructed together with a Dining Hall Area, this phase of works was carried out within the student summer holiday period to minimise disruption to the operations of the University. On the second floor, further offices, meeting rooms, toilet facilities and Faith Rooms were constructed.
The works also comprised of changing the existing external envelope of the building to glazed curtain walling and remodelling the external works.
Live environment. Segregation of staff and students from works footprint was required at all.
