Refurbishment of the existing building is in two parts, the south block of 6 storeys over lower and upper ground floor levels, and the north block of 3 storeys, ground and two upper levels.
The works within the south block included the removal of the existing roof coverings and a new roof, fire protection works to the existing structural steel frame, insulation works, new internal
partition walls, new floor finishes and suspended ceilings, redecoration works and new toilet facilities. Works also included extensive new electrical and mechanical service installations
throughout with new laboratory furniture.
